If you're suggesting that well-written documentation is essential, and 
that technical writers always need to keep their target audience in 
mind, I couldn't agree more.

The only solution I see is to write the material that we think is 
missing. Some of us started to do this on some web site. (No link, but 
you can search the mailing list archives for "RFC".)

You're talking about badly written GNU/Linux tutorials for newbies. Are 
you thinking about a specific tutorial or web site that we should 
improve? And is this under our control, i.e., under the control of 
anyone here on this mailing list?

Well, the results for "Windows newbie" and "Windows tutorials" on Google 
aren't exactly relevant either...

I, for one, did not forget. If there is some specific material that 
needs to be written, it's best to get down to writing it. If a newbie 
asks anyone of us for help, we can point them there.
